KUALA LUMPUR – Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari successfully reached the final of Malaysia Masters 2024. The ticket to the final was obtained after Rinov/Pitha managed to defeat the Danish representatives, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje. The match took place at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday (25/5/2024) afternoon WIB. Rinov/Pitha won the three-game match with a score of 26-24, 14-21, and 21-18.

Rinov/Pitha immediately took the lead in the first game. The mixed doubles pair, ranked 15th in the world, successfully combined powerful smashes and lob shots to break down Christiansen/Boje’s defense. Despite taking a significant lead, Rinov/Pitha’s point acquisition was caught up just before the first game interval. Christiansen/Boje played aggressively, relying on powerful cross shots.

The point chase continued until Rinov/Pitha secured the lead at the first interval with a score of 11-10. After that, Christiansen/Boje put up a fierce fight. Rinov/Pitha eventually managed to clinch a hard-fought victory over Christiansen/Boje with a score of 26-24 in the first game. Moving on to the second set, Rinov/Pitha started the game well.

The champions of the Spain Masters 2024 seemed to have no difficulty in scoring points against Christiansen/Boje. However, Christiansen/Boje managed to score consecutive points just before the interval of the second game. The Danish duo successfully maintained the lead at the interval of the second game with a score of 11-8. After the break, Christiansen/Boje’s game developed further and became difficult to stop by Rinov/Pitha.

Ultimately, Christiansen/Boje defeated Rinov/Pitha with a score of 21-14 in the second game. This result led both pairs to compete in the third game to determine the winner. In the deciding game, Rinov/Pitha initially fell far behind Christiansen/Boje, who played effectively. They even had to acknowledge the doubles Denmark’s lead at the interval of the third game with a score of 5-11.

However, after the interval, Rinov/Pitha rose and successfully leveled the score to 16-16. In no time, Rinov/Pitha’s aggressive play led them to victory with a score of 21-18. (sto)
