President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his commitment to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by eliminating the practice of giving bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement of SOE assets over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has now become a major player in global finance, with a sovereign fund ranking fifth worldwide. However, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during times of company losses, labeling it as fundamentally unjust. He emphasized the need to eradicate these bonuses as part of a broader reform agenda aimed at fostering integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo made it clear that those opposing these reforms will not be tolerated, as there are plenty of capable young individuals ready to step up to the challenge.
