President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, was in attendance at the Singapore National Day Parade on Saturday, August 9, coinciding with the city-state’s 60th Independence Day celebrations. This annual event, observed on August 9, marks Singapore’s independence in 1965.
President Prabowo’s arrival in Singapore was marked by the landing of the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft at Paya Lebar Airbase at 3:40 p.m. local time. He was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Following a warm official airport welcome, the President’s entourage proceeded to the hotel where he would be staying.
The hotel lobby was abuzz with activity since midday, as Indonesian citizens, members of the diaspora, students, and officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore eagerly awaited the arrival of their Head of State.
