President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, embarked on a journey to Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday evening utilizing the high-speed Whoosh train, accompanied by members of the public from Halim Station in Jakarta. The President arrived at the station at approximately 7:45 p.m., donning a cream-colored ensemble with a matching jacket and navy blue cap, seamlessly blending in with fellow passengers as he scanned his boarding card at the ticket gate and proceeded to the platform via the escalator.
His unexpected presence elicited surprise and excitement among commuters, who greeted him with enthusiasm as he made his way to the platform, exchanging waves and warm interactions with the crowd. Prior to boarding the train, President Jokowi graciously took the opportunity to take photos with the Whoosh crew. The high-speed train departed for Tegalluar Station in Bandung promptly at 8:00 p.m.
President Jokowi’s visit to Bandung is in conjunction with his scheduled appearance at the 2025 Indonesian Convention on Science, Technology, and Industry (KSTI) taking place at the Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) from August 7 to 9. He is set to deliver the keynote address at the convention alongside renowned figures such as Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov and Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
Themed “Economic Growth and Equity Through Mastery of Science and Technology,” KSTI 2025 aims to serve as a pivotal strategic platform on both a national and international scale, fostering discussions and collaborations on advancements in science and technology.
