Kediri (beritajatim.com) – VP (21), a young man from Dusun Jambu, Tunge Village, Wates District, Kediri Regency, went berserk as his love was not approved. The man was mercilessly assaulting his girlfriend’s grandmother.
Due to the perpetrator’s actions, SK (64) had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the perpetrator has been taken into custody by the police for further questioning.
The Head of Public Relations of Kediri Police AKP Sriatik confirmed the incident. The Resmob team of the Kediri Police Criminal Investigation Unit has apprehended the perpetrator for attempted murder against the victim.
“The perpetrator attempted to murder the victim by covering the victim’s face with a pillow for about 5 minutes. The perpetrator also strangled the victim’s neck with his left hand for 2 minutes,” explained AKP Sriatik, on Saturday (8/6/2024).
The attempted murder case occurred at the victim’s house in Dusun Jambu RT 12 RW 02, Tunge Village, on June 1, 2024 around 11:10 PM. It is suspected that the perpetrator became angry because his romantic relationship with the victim’s granddaughter was not approved.
The perpetrator thought the victim had died as a result of the assault. Meanwhile, after leaving the victim lying helpless, the perpetrator, who is still a student, immediately fled.
However, the perpetrator’s escape was discovered, leading to his capture by the authorities. The police also seized a green pillow as evidence. As a result of his actions, the perpetrator is charged under Article 338 of the Penal Code in conjunction with Article 53, and/or Article 351 with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. [nm/kun]
