Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto stated that the launch of the All-New Hyundai Kona EV is approaching. The vehicle was introduced at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 in Jakarta on February 15-25.
Soerjopranoto confirmed that the All-New Kona EV will be more affordable compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 models currently available in the market. The All-New Kona EV will be assembled locally at the Cikarang factory in Bekasi.
He mentioned that with the battery plant facility in Karawang, Bekasi, Hyundai will be able to offer a range of electric vehicles, including more premium models at competitive prices.
The All-New Kona EV variants and prices (off the road) have been listed on the Jakarta Motor Vehicle Value Information (NJKB) website. The variants include Prime Standard Range (Rp421 million), Prime Long Range (Rp455 million), Signature Standard Range (Rp436 million), and Signature Long Range (Rp470 million).
Hyundai currently sells electric models at premium prices ranging from Rp700 million to over Rp1 billion. The Ioniq 5 is priced between Rp722 million and Rp820 million, with the Batik Special Edition priced at Rp915 million. The Ioniq 6 is priced at Rp1.22 billion.
Soerjopranoto mentioned that the study on All-New Kona EV pricing and specifications that will be competitive in the Indonesian market is almost complete. The specifications will be based on consumer needs and preferences to ensure the right fit for the market.
He concluded by saying that they are close to finalizing the pricing and detailed specifications of the All-New Kona EV and asked for patience from consumers.
