AR (24), a resident of Driyorejo, Gresik, was arrested by the Narcotics Unit I of the Surabaya Police Headquarters. He was arrested after being caught carrying 26.8 grams of dried marijuana hidden in 3 different containers. AR was planning to have a marijuana party with his friends at a location in Surabaya.
The Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Surabaya Police Headquarters, Commissioner Suria Miftah Irawan, stated that the arrest was based on previous investigations. Members of the Narcotics Unit I, led by Inspector Yoyok Hadianto, found that AR was a marijuana dealer who often sold his goods in Surabaya.
“After confirming it, we arrested AR at his home in Merah Delima Regency Kota Baru Driyorejo in early February 2024,” said Suria Mifta on Sunday (03/03/2024).
When arrested, AR was found with evidence of marijuana packaged in 3 different bundles. He stored 18.5 grams in oil paper, 7.5 grams in a black plastic wrapper wrapped in brown insulation, and the rest in an aluminum can. In addition, the police also found rolling paper commonly used for rolling dried marijuana.
“We immediately detained him at the Surabaya Police Headquarters. He admitted to us where he got the illegal goods from, so we are still conducting further investigations,” added Suria Mifta.
AR admitted to getting the marijuana from someone identified as H by purchasing it in a village in Kletek, Taman, Sidoarjo. He bought it for Rp 1.2 million for 1 ounce of dried marijuana. AR had already sold half an ounce to his friends for Rp 650,000. The remaining amount was not sold yet and was for personal use.
“Yesterday, I made a profit of Rp 50,000, sir. The money was spent on snacks, and the goods were also used by friends,” said AR.
To be held accountable for his actions, the suspect AR was charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) sub-paragraph Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
