Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, highlighted Indonesia’s vital role in maintaining prosperity, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This was emphasized during a joint statement following his meeting with Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto. Albanese emphasized the importance of the bilateral relationship between Australia and Indonesia, noting that Indonesia plays a crucial role in the well-being of the region. With Indonesia being the fourth most populous country and on track to become the fifth-largest economy globally in the next decade, Albanese recognized the country’s economic growth. Two years ago, he launched Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 in Jakarta, showcasing Indonesia’s pivotal role in the rapid development of the region. The Prime Minister commended President Prabowo’s Free Nutritious Meals Program as a noteworthy effort towards inclusive development, indicating Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing living standards. Albanese also stressed the significance of free and fair trade, peace, and stability in driving prosperity, citing initiatives like the Free Nutritious Meals Program as evidence of Indonesia’s dedication to improving human welfare. Additionally, Australia reaffirmed its recognition of Indonesia’s leadership in the Indo-Pacific region and its commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations amid global uncertainties and regional transformations.
