Teachers now have the opportunity to learn directly from Harvard educators about utilizing technology in education. During a national coordination meeting in Belitung, the Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Human Resource Development Agency, Sugeng Hariyono, emphasized that the Teacher Movement Program ensures the availability of the best teachers who are ready to face challenges and provide quality education to future generations. This underlines the strategic importance of the program in producing change agents.

The appointment of over 700,000 honorary teachers as ASN PPPK since 2018 is an achievement that cannot be overlooked. In an education event held in Jakarta, Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim stressed the significance of this appointment in recognizing and ensuring the continuity of education throughout the country with more prosperous and qualified teachers. An education academic from the Jakarta State University stated, “The Teacher Movement Program represents a significant leap in efforts to enhance teachers’ capacities on a massive scale. Through this program, we train teachers who are not only proficient academically but also possess strong leadership skills and can be change agents in their respective schools.” This program acts as a bridge connecting the need for competent teachers with an education system in need of refreshment.

One striking achievement of the Teacher Movement Program is when over 12,000 Teacher Movements were appointed as school principals. A Teacher Movement promoted to school principal in Surabaya expressed, “Being a Teacher Movement has opened many opportunities for me to continue learning and developing. And now, I feel more prepared to lead this school towards a better future.” This appointment indicates that the Teacher Movement Program does not stop at the training stage but also provides a clear career path for teachers.

As technology advances, the government is providing teachers with opportunities to hone their skills continuously. A recent initiative involves collaborating with Harvard University, where teachers can learn directly about learning technology. Nadiem Makarim at a technology platform impact study event in Jakarta said, “We want to ensure that our teachers are not left behind in technological advancements.
