Jake Paul is set to face off against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in what many are calling a circus match. With the significant weight difference between the two fighters, the exhibition fight scheduled for November 14 in Atlanta will not be recognized as a professional bout. Paul fights in the cruiserweight division at 90.7 kg while Davis is the champion in the lightweight division at 61.2 kg. The fight is expected to be streamed on Netflix, following Paul’s victory over legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson in November.
This upcoming match follows Paul’s win against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, which helped him secure the No. 14 ranking in the WBA cruiserweight division. However, Davis’ fight will not be counted towards Paul’s official record. Dillon Danis, UFC fighter and Paul’s rival, criticized the matchup, calling it a joke and accusing Paul of scamming people out of their money. Despite the spectacle surrounding the fight, Danis believes that the rivalry between him and Paul will eventually come to a head.
Danis, who holds a 2-0 record in MMA, made his boxing debut against Logan Paul, Jake’s brother, in October 2023. The fight ended in disqualification in the sixth round after Danis attempted an MMA move. The feud between Danis and the Paul brothers doesn’t stop there, as Logan’s wife, supermodel Nina Agdal, has also been involved in a legal dispute with Danis.
