President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his strong belief in Indonesia’s capacity to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as planned, positioning the country as a frontrunner in this milestone. In a video conference focusing on the advancement of renewable energy and expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s ability to effectively produce energy while reducing logistical costs. He highlighted the critical role of energy independence in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty, unveiling plans for 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean, reliable, and efficient energy across the nation.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts of government ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy corporations like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil, President Prabowo applauded their support for Indonesia’s energy transition. Despite the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, he stressed the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities throughout Indonesia. Prabowo expressed confidence in Indonesia’s future prospects, citing solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. Through the utilization of renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
