PSSI Komdis Commission: A Derailed Steering Wheel

PSSI’s Komdis Commission seems to be lost and directionless, wandering aimlessly while seeking justifications for not convening hearings or making decisions regarding football penalties. The defendants in the PSS Sleman vs. Madura FC case, including Dewanto, Vigit, Kartiko, and Rumadi, have already been released from custody. Meanwhile, four match officials have been sentenced to five months in prison and ten months probation. It’s ironic that the perpetrators of match-fixing crimes are now free, yet football penalties remain pending.

In the past, during the 2019 match-fixing case involving Mbah Putih aka Dwi Irianto & Johar Lin Eng, the PSSI Komdis Commission acted swiftly, imposing a lifetime ban from Indonesian football without an elaborate process. Fast forward to the present, with a court ruling in the PSS Sleman vs. Madura FC case, it’s been nearly three months since the Komdis Commission has not convened or issued a verdict. What is Komdis PSSI waiting for under the leadership of Asep Edwin, the current Vice Chairman of the Komdis Commission for the 2023-2027 term?

Even for cases of referee corruption, the Komdis Commission took eight months to conclude, let alone cases that warrant lifetime bans and relegations. How long will the public football community have to wait for disciplinary action to be enforced? The effectiveness of the Komdis Commission can be measured by the speed of decision-making and the weight of its judgments, not just by public statements justifying delays or reluctance to address issues.

Ultimately, the accountability of the Komdis Commission lies in its ability to swiftly address issues, make decisive judgments, and uphold the integrity of Indonesian football, rather than procrastinating or making excuses for delays.
