ASUENE: Platform Carbon Accounting Terbaik

Share

ASUENE Inc. is excited to announce that it has partnered with PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia), a key subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Indonesia, by providing its carbon accounting platform, “ASUENE.” This platform enables SMBC Indonesia to align with the PCAF (Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials) Standard, thereby reinforcing its sustainable finance initiatives and hastening decarbonization efforts within its financial portfolio.

Indonesia faces the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, leading to stricter regulations on climate risk management and CO2 emissions reporting for local financial institutions by the Indonesian government and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Complying with the PCAF Standard and CRST guidelines is crucial for these institutions to meet decarbonization targets and prepare for potential regulatory requirements.

Recognizing the need to enhance CO2 emissions visualization and disclosures for its numerous investments in regional companies, SMBC Indonesia decided to implement the “ASUENE” solution. This platform’s robust capabilities in calculating Scope 3 Category 15 emissions and its alignment with the PCAF Standard made it the ideal choice for SMBC Indonesia. By deploying ASUENE, over 300 major investee companies can now conduct PCAF-compliant emissions calculations, particularly focusing on financed emissions.

The ASUENE implementation will follow a white-label model, allowing SMBC Indonesia to maintain its brand presence while improving CO2 emissions transparency among its investees. The platform also supports multiple languages and is backed by ASUENE APAC’s consulting team for localized support in Indonesian, Japanese, and English.

Looking ahead, ASUENE remains dedicated to supporting sustainable finance initiatives in Indonesia, collaborating with SMBC Indonesia and other financial institutions to help them achieve their decarbonization goals. The partnership with ASUENE signifies SMBC Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the Indonesian government’s climate risk management efforts and providing added value to customers by facilitating emissions administration and historical record maintenance.

ASUENE’s Founder & CEO, Kohei Nishiwada, acknowledges the increasing demand for GHG accounting in Indonesia in line with Net Zero targets and OJK’s guidelines. ASUENE strives to offer efficient solutions to help Indonesian companies comply with regulations, advance sustainability, and accurately measure financed emissions, thereby contributing to the country’s decarbonization efforts.
